  • Notes
    • [There is the possibility of confusion between two Thomas Reeve's (or Reeves) families living in Southold at the same time, both with wives named Bethia. The Thomas Reeve of our interest, who was the father of the Rev. Abner Reeve, is sometimes referred to as "blacksmith" Thomas Reeve, while the other Reeve was referred to as Lieutenent Thomas Reeve(s). Lt. Thomas's wife Bethiah died two years before Blacksmith Thomas's. I have, in general, accepted Wesley Baker's (1970) sorting out of the two families.]
